Cookie Policy
Last updated: 27.02.2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to the Rodnei Retreat & Spa website (hereinafter referred to as "the website", "we", "us", or "our"). This Cookie Policy explains how our website uses cookies and similar local storage technologies (such as localStorage) when you visit rodnei-retreat.com.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. localStorage is a similar browser-provided storage mechanism that allows websites to store data on your device without an automatic expiration date (data persists until manually or programmatically deleted).
Important note: Our website does not use traditional HTTP cookies. Instead, we exclusively use localStorage (local browser storage) to remember your preferences and to collect anonymous analytics data. This policy covers both cookies and similar storage technologies in accordance with applicable legislation.
This policy has been prepared in accordance with:
- The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) -- EU Regulation 2016/679
- The ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector
- Romanian Law 506/2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector
- Romanian Law 235/2015 amending Law 506/2004
2. How we use cookies and localStorage
We use local storage technologies (localStorage) in your browser for the following purposes:
- Storing consent preferences: We remember your choice regarding which cookies and analytics technologies you have accepted, so we do not ask for your consent on every visit.
- Anonymous traffic analysis: If you have accepted analytics cookies, we collect anonymous data about page views, browser type, operating system, device type, country (determined from your IP address, which is not stored), and referral source. This data contains no personal information and is not used for cross-site tracking.
We do not use:
- Google Analytics
- Facebook Pixel or other tracking pixels
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Cross-site tracking cookies
- Any form of user profiling
3. Types of storage we use
Below is a detailed table of all storage technologies used on our website:
| Name / Key | Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookie-preferences | localStorage (first-party) | Stores your cookie consent preferences. Contains: essential (always active), analytics (per your choice), and a timestamp of your consent. | 365 days (from the date of consent) | Essential |
| umami.* (keys prefixed with "umami") | localStorage (first-party -- Umami Analytics) | Anonymous session data for traffic analysis. Umami is a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics platform that does not use cookies, does not track personal data, and does not perform cross-site tracking. It collects: page views, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, and country (determined from IP, which is not stored). | Session (cleared when the browser is closed) | Analytics (requires consent) |
| umami.* (keys prefixed with "umami") | localStorage (first-party -- Umami Recorder) | Visual playback of on-page interactions (cursor movements, clicks, scrolling), provided by Umami's session recording (session replay) feature. Does not capture form field content and is not associated with any identifying information. | Session (cleared when the browser is closed) | Analytics (requires consent) |
4. Third-party services
Google Fonts
Our website loads web fonts from Google services (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) to ensure consistent typographic rendering. When your browser requests these fonts:
- Your browser may cache the font files locally to improve performance on subsequent visits.
- Google may log technical request information, including your IP address, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
- We have no control over the data collected by Google through this service.
For more information, please see Google's Privacy Policy and the Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.
Umami Analytics
We use Umami, a self-hosted, privacy-focused web analytics platform. Umami:
- Does not use HTTP cookies
- Does not collect or store personal data
- Does not perform cross-site tracking
- Is hosted on our own servers (umami.zxcpoi.com)
- Respects the "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signal
In addition to aggregate statistics, we also use Umami's session recording (session replay) feature, which visually replays cursor movements, clicks and scrolling on the page, to help us identify usability issues. This feature does not capture form field content.
5. Your consent and how to manage preferences
On your first visit to our website, you will be presented with a cookie banner requesting your consent for the use of analytics technologies. You have the following options:
- Accept All: Enables both essential and analytics storage.
- Reject Non-Essential: Only essential storage remains active; analytics is disabled.
- Customize: Choose individually which storage categories to enable.
You can change your preferences at any time by using the "Cookie Settings" button available in the footer of every page on the website. This button will redisplay the preferences panel, allowing you to update your consent.
Your consent is stored locally in your browser (via the cookie-preferences key in localStorage) and is valid for 365 days from the date it was given. After this period expires, you will be asked for your consent again.
6. Controlling storage via browser settings
In addition to the options provided on our website, you can manage cookies and local storage data (localStorage) directly through your browser settings:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies
To clear localStorage data specifically for our website, you can use your browser's developer tools (usually accessible via the F12 key), navigate to the "Application" or "Storage" section, and delete the entries for the rodnei-retreat.com domain.
7. Impact of disabling cookies and local storage
Disabling or deleting local storage data may have the following consequences:
- Consent preferences are lost: The cookie banner will be displayed again on every visit, as the website will be unable to remember your previous choice.
- Analytics will not be affected: If you have rejected analytics cookies, disabling local storage will have no additional impact on data collection.
- Website functionality remains intact: Our website is a static site that functions fully without cookies or local storage. Navigation, content, and all website features will remain available as normal.
8. Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to update this Cookie Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable legislation. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised update date.
We recommend that you check this page periodically to stay informed about the latest information regarding the use of cookies and similar technologies on our website.
